Top tips
  • Build a solid inverted D hold before attempting.
  • Warm up your shoulders and lats thoroughly; the supporting bottom arm needs to work hard to support you.
  • Warm up your back flexibility well — it will help controlling the shoulders
  • Keep your core engaged to stop the hips from dropping and to protect the lower back.
  • Learn it over a crash mat, coming in and out of the shape slowly with a spotter until the position feels familiar.
